Senior Unit Update Week 2 Term 4

Welcome to Week 2 and things keep on going as the Senior Unit pushes into the term. Quick run down of the week ahead

Exhibition
The Year 7's continue their Exhibition journey at an ever quickening pace. Things are ramping up for all groups as the students continue to inquire into their chosen topic. A few of the things that have been happening are:
The Recycling group went for a visit to NAWMA to investigate the recycling process and what happens to the things we want to get rid of.
The Water group went to Loch 1 at Blanchetown  to look at water and its condition and investigate what is happening at the Loch.
It sounds like exciting things are going on and we look forward to what the students will produce.

Expedition
This week the opportunity for 24 Year 6 students to go and participate in a Youth Summit. Here is some information on the event.

The Town of Gawler places high importance on youth voice. We are in the midst of reviewing our Youth Development Plan for the region. It is important that we check directly in with the Town’s young people to see how we are tracking, what’s being done well, and what could improve. We are doing things differently by leading young people through a series of interactive activities to help answer these questions. Our engagement and consultation with young people will be achieved via two stages:

·         Stage 1 – Youth Summit 2017 – speaking directly with Schools youth leaders on 26 October 2017
·         Stage 2 – Imagine if…. Hub – bringing in classes of students, other youth and vulnerable groups, services providers and parents at the end of Term 1, 2018

This is a great chance for the Year 6's to have a voice in the community. We will be heading out on Wednesday, leaving the school at 12.00pm and walking to the community centre. We will be back to school by the close of the school day.

There is other great things happening in the Senior Unit, check back tomorrow for more information.
